Industrial Design

Transform insights.

Create value through engaging products

Industrial Design is our founding discipline. For more than 30 years, we’ve designed products and experiences that have built and differentiated businesses. With the power to visually captivate, physically immerse, and emotionally connect to the human experience, design forms perceptions and influences actions.

As the bridge between marketable ideas and engineered solutions, design transforms insights and translates ideas into meaningful products, connecting the desired user experience with the business objective.

Whether it’s new products or existing ones, design is about perspective

Sometimes it’s a fresh perspective and other times it’s about bringing the level of expertise you need to gain confidence. To us, design is always:

Collaborative

With clients, with other disciplines, and with users. Design thinking connects the dots, turns complexity into opportunity, and creates value with new relationships and experiences.

Human-Centered

With people at the center. Meaningful solutions are inspired by, focus on, and connect with the people who interact with them.

Business-Minded

With a business model that works. Focus on products and services that drive business revenue that is sustainable over time.

Universal

For anyone and any industry, from everyday products to specialty devices. Evaluate user needs at the deepest level and design solutions that people love.

We want it to be real, we want it to be desirable, and we want you to be successful

Setting a vision takes different forms. The quicker you can visualize it, the quicker you can work with it. Fueled by research and insights, we work with you to visualize and drive design that can exist in the here and now while showing a way into the future.

Idea Generation

Maybe you already have an idea, maybe you know a market you want to tap into, maybe you need to build out your current product portfolio, or maybe you’re trying to define a 3-5-10 year roadmap for your business. Using Design Thinking tools and methodologies, we facilitate these conversations and get thoughts down on paper.

Innovation Workshops

Organized idea generation with key opinion leaders and industry experts

Product Portfolio Planning and Roadmapping

Plan and visualize your business strategy for the future

Storyboarding

Put your idea in context and narrate the story to bring it to life

Journey Mapping

Determine pain points and opportunity areas by detailing the user’s needs, interaction points, and emotional response

Concept Development

Start with a divergent approach to generate more creative ideas and explore multiple possibilities for product architecture. Then, converge by organizing and structuring the concepts to lead to the best solution. Through cross-collaboration with engineering, materials, and manufacturing, create concepts that are desirable, feasible, and viable.

Design Sketching and Detailed Development

Visual communication of various concepts, features, and value propositions

Color, Materials, Finish

Consideration of all aspects of the final product – feel, quality, etc

Product Rendering

Photorealistic representation to evaluate the design before prototype

Make better design decisions by taking it further earlier

Early interaction and experimentation leads to thoughtful problem solving. Moving from pen and paper, take an idea further and better communicate the tactile experience. With this hands-on approach, you learn by doing, fail fast, and iterate. It sets the vision and tone for the idealized experience, allowing technology such as CAD and rapid prototyping to refine the details.

Human Factors and Ergonomics

Designing products or systems that work well means accounting for user’s capabilities and confirming they can accomplish tasks safely, effectively, and efficiently. It’s important to take each human interaction into account, understanding both the physical and cognitive demands. Ergonomic principles specified in ISO 6385 and ISO 26800 as well as the commitment to ANSI/AAMI HE75 (human factors engineering for the design of medical devices and its recommended practices), ensures your product will be designed to these standards.

Intuitive

Easy to understand, learn, and perform consistently as expected

Works with User's and their Capabilities

Anatomy, biomechanics, size, strength, sense perception

Works with the User's Expectations

Mental models, expectations from adjacent workflows

Works with the Environment

Performs as expected within the environments it needs to work in

Keep the connection to the customer all the way through

We make sure that the important design elements come through in the final product. These details matter to your customers and your bottom line. They’re what shape the connection to your product, communicate what’s best about it, and keep it desirable.

Visual Brand Language

The way your products look and feel define your customer experience. Design plays a key role in this business strategy to uphold your brand and its values.

Branding

The products and services you provide are an extension of your brand. Every customer touchpoint matters and needs to have a consistent message.

Packaging

Packaging is often the first engagement with your users and a key element to your offering. Getting it right establishes a positive impression.
